High attendance and a positive survey of attendees at the 11 – 12 June Bouddi Music Festival show the community's warm embrace of top-quality entertainment produced by the Bouddi Society at Wagstaffe Hall with its new $10,000 sound system upgrade.
The first concert of the inaugural Bouddi Music Festival featured internationally famous Singer/songwriter (and Bouddi Peninsula resident) Melinda Schneider presenting her "Love Songs" concert of her own, and covers of well-known love songs. On Melinda's tour promoting her new and fifteenth album, the Wagstaffe Hall event was one of eighteen venues across Australia. Woven into the tapestry of the concert was the fascinating story of the artist's life across 40 years in the entertainment industry.
On Sunday 12 June, John Bell, classical actor and director - and chairman of the Bouddi Foundation for the Arts - teamed with one of Australia's most renowned classical pianists, Simon Tedeschi, to present their "Words and Music" afternoon concert sharing wicked backstage stories from the Opera House to the Concert Hall, alongside poetry and music from Mozart and Beethoven, Schubert, and Gershwin. Usually presented as a 75-minute show, the duo treated Wagstaffe Hall attendees to a full 90 minutes of riveting repertoire. Both the Melinda Schneider "Love Songs" concert on 11 June and the John Bell & Simon Tedeschi "Words and Music" event the following day garnered 100% ratings of "4" or "5" on a five-point scale to the question "How entertaining was it?" Asked, "Would you buy tickets to this type of concert again," survey respondents gave a "4" or "5" rating. On this question, the sold-out John Bell & Simon Tedeschi concert got 91% ratings of "5."

2020 ART SHOW
On the October long weekend the Bouddi Society hosted an Art Show at the Wagstaffe Hall for local artists. The theme was 'Birds of a Feather' and it was interesting the number of ways that our avian friends were represented. Apart from paintings & prints of various mediums, there was some ceramics and jewellery. There was also a wonderful mechanism of the White-bellied Sea Eagle’s wing structure by Gab Paananen.
The Hall resonated to the sound of bird calls whilst a video of the birds of the Bouddi Peninsula was shown on the stage wall. This video was interspersed with the pre-recorded opening ceremony with Judy Nunn opening and reading bird poems by Judith Wright and John Bell interviewing Gab Paananen. (the bird video and opening ceremony can be viewed on the Bouddi Society website www.bouddisociety.org.au)
Even with Covid restrictions, the show was a great success with over 700 people attending over the two days. Sales exceeded $14,000 and the Bouddi Society made over $3,000.
